Hamilton Beach Grills

ReviewSteaks, burgers, hot dogs, fish, pork chops, French toast, sandwiches, hash browns, vegetables… The list goes on and on of foods and meals this compact countertop grill may cook on both sides simultaneously. A recipe booklet makes that clear, and even shows how a version of beef stroganoff may be prepared amid the grill’s top and bottom cooking grids in minutes. When the whole family sits down for a meal, or hungry friends turn up, the top opens flat, doubling the cooking surface to 216 square inches. (Each grid’s effective cooking surface measures with regards to 12-1/2 by 7 inches; closed, the grill–made of hard, bright, black plastic–measures 16-1/2 by 13 inches overall.) Other fine features: fats drain into dishwasher-safe drip tray for healthful cooking; timer shuts off grill mechanically when cooking time elapses; dishwasher-safe, nonstick grids remove for easy cleanup; and cord wraps into bottom for storage. –Fred Brack

5Very Pleased
By Richard Keller
I am very pleased with this product. I have the littler Foreman Grill but necessitated something larger and this was it. With removable grills, the clean up was much more comfortable than the Foreman grill. Another vantage of this grill over the Foreman grills is the oil drainage trays are built inside and do not just sit on the counter waiting to be knocked over. Make sure to spray the trays with cooking oil prior to using.I have cooked 2-3 lb London Broils, semi boneless steaks, chicken breast and ground beef with this grill and love it. I applied it twice just this weekend and am genuinely pleased. It is not 100% the same as outdoor BBQ grilling but for indoors year round cooking, it is fine.

5Healthy Timesaver – Easy Cleanup
By Elizabeth
I am a countertop appliance freak, and I love this grill! Unlike most of the other grills I’ve used, the plates come off in a snap for easy cleaning. You may soak them in hot sudsy water, or you may put them in the dishwasher. They never need to be scrubbed, because they have a nonstick surface, which is much more lasting than most of the nonstick surfaces I’ve encountered. However, you must never use abrasives, you don’t need to because most stuff just rinses right off. When you use the grill, you preheat it with the timer, which is likewise the on/off control for five minutes, so it’s nice and hot when you put the meat, veggies, or chicken on it. It’s great for stir frying, just chop the veggies and spray them with cooking spray and put the lid down for a couple of minutes. If you’re doing meat, fish or chicken with the veggies, put the meat, sprayed with cooking spray, on first, wait a couple minutes and then put the veggies in. The grill is big sufficient for a lot of food. It does great grilled veggies. And because it’s covered when it cooks on both sides, there is no grease spatter! Nothing messy to clean up afterwards. And, if you pour a little amount of water over the hot grill after removing the food, and use the little grooved paddle supplied with the machine to sweep the drippings into the removable drip tray, (which is percentage of the appliance and not detached from it unless you want it to be), you have makings for a gravy if you so desire. Since we are calorie concious, we normally pour the drippings into our dog’s arid feed and does he ever love that! He’s smart sufficient to know when we are cooking on the grill, and so he gets all excited! Once in a while we splurge and put it over our rice, and then the poor doggie has none! I may cook two huge whole trouts, seasoned and stuffed with lemon slices in just a few minutes. The timer is a real safety feature, if you get distracted from cooking, rather of burning, your meal mechanically turns off at the time you set and the residuary heat keeps it warm until you are ready to eat it. The assortment of foods you may cook on this machine is amazing! I have cooked hamburgers, eggplant, whole chicken pieces, fish, roasted/grilled vegetables, cut up meats, and seafood for fahitas and stir fry, and bacon and sausage with no spatter, liver and bacon and onions, the list goes on and on and no burning! This is one of those gadgets I just couldn’t live without after using it. If it passed away tomorrow I would have to replace it right away, but since it has a 2 year guarantee, no problem. I don’t understand the reviewer who said she couldn’t take it detached for cleaning. Maybe she didn’t read the instructions. I have also cooked a great deal of steaks, pork chops, etc with bones with no problems, so I don’t perceive her review at all.

5Beats the George Foreman Grill, Hands Down!
By Michael Way
I purchased my basi of this grill three years ago by accident. Wanted to replace my sixth (6th) Foreman Grill because the Foreman held burning out the elements. I saw this Hamilton Beach grill, studied it in the store, and decisive to switch. This grill has outlasted all my Foremen Grills in spades. I use my contact grill at least four out of a seven day week. Often twice on the weekends. Let’s thoroughly and closely question or examine the pros: First, the removable plates are worth the price of admittance all by themselves. Second, the drip tray is so much more intelligently designed than the Foreman. Three, when the grill opens up, it has a tang that allows the gravity fed drippings to go into the channel also. Fourth, the timer is marvelous and gives adequate time for most contact grilling (I suggest a five minute pre-heat before actual cooking). Five, the design is sensible and youll never have to wash the heating plates in the grill, which was a big hassle with George.

The negatives: one; After three years, the timer knob split at the spine. two; The teflon begun to erode by the end of the second year making it somewhat difficult to clean. three; the spring loaded clip on the lower plate lost it’s coil spring. The good news is that all the constituents may be effortlessly substituted by Hamilton Beach.

Finally, when I saw this on Amazon, I closely couldnt believe the price so I ordered one. It was delivered so fast that Im ordering a spare, which Ill store in my pantry just in case Hamilton Beach loses the grill war to George Foreman. Believe you me; this is one grill that you wont want to be without. It is utterly the best grill for the money anywhere. Oh, and one last thing. If you want the drippings to flow faster, just prop the left side on a thin cutting board. Personally, I like it the way it is because the channels are deep sufficient where the juices do not touch the feed but doesnt run away so fast as to inhibit the wondrous moistures that make your feed tastier, juicer, and more tender. And no, I dont work for Hamilton Beach; I just recognise a outstanding product when I use one.

5Great grill, great price
By Betty Jack
This is one appliance that lives up to each one of the manufacturer’s claims. I follow directions and spray the grill surface with cooking spray and put half a cup of water in the pan below, and the grill actually is, as advertised, smokeless and exceedingly easy to clean. I like the adaptable grill temperature, a feature I’m not used to since my faithful ageold Farberware, now deceased, had only two settings, namely “plugged in and on” or “unplugged and off”. The Sanyo cooks everying in half the time the old grill did, and without cabinet-endangering flareups. I particularly like the enormous cooking surface since I’m regularly cooking for 5 adults and a child and with this grill I may cook for all of us at once. The dimensions make it easy to store if you set it vertically rather than horizontally. The appliance is so low in height that I set mine on a silicone countertop protector, but I’m not sure this is genuinely necessary. My only complaint is that there is no surrounding rim to keep your hamburgers from sliding right off the grill when you undertake to flip them over, but using a second spatula as a backstop solves that problem. This grill is a terrific bargain even at the suggested merchandising price; at the current Amazon price it’s even more terrific.

5try this
By tvguyer
I read the review when it comes to how long it takes to preheat this grill, well being a full time chef (aa culinary arts) and over 20 years in the industry, I have used a lot of dissimilar types of grills, and in most cases when I necessitated it to heat up speedily we would just place a sheet pan over it and it decreased the startup time significantly. Well I found a aluminum baking pan which fit this grill perfectly, the metal does not come in contact with the plastic base, and it took only 4 minutes to reach the high setting. I used a litte non stick spray and placed 2, 1 inch thick lamb chops on it and it seared them utterly and quickly, placed the cover (pan) back over them, waited in regards to 3 minutes, turned them over, and grilled another 2 minutes and they were well done. Totoal time grill was on 10 minutes. Now lamb is regarding the greasiest meat and I did get a little smoke, but that was only when the searing was taking place, and with the cover very little splatter also. I think if they could the would make a cover for this unit, but it would probably not pass U.L. standards? Not sure but if you are using this grill as with other gadgets you ought to keep a close eye on them. I got this item next day with amazon prime total was only 34 bucks. Great deal and product.

5Cooks good food, but not smokeless
By Gadgester
All considered, I decisive to give this Sanyo indoor grill a 5-star rating. It’s in all likelihood more like 4.5 stars, but Amazon doesn’t concede that. I’ll explain.

On the plus side, I actually like the simplicity of this grill. It’s also light-weight, registering a little underneath seven pounds, which means it’s easy to move around – no breaking your back! It’s likewise rather easy to clean: just soapy warm water and dry! The grill comprises of three pieces: a metal grill, a sheet metal oil drip pan, and a plastic base. The base does feel a little insubstantial, but the whole thing, put together, is rather sturdy. The 200 in^2 cooking surface is good for a family of up to four.

I likewise loved the price: I never imagined I could have a quality indoor grill for such a low price. (Thanks to Amazon, too?) This is in all probability what tilted me to the five-star rating. The grill, made in China, is of finelooking good build quality, and looks like it’ll last a long time. The price and value just can’t be beat.

Above all, the grill actually gives you delicious BBQ food! I’ve grilled steaks, pork chops, burgers, franks, chicken breasts, chicken legs, chicken wings, vegetables, and more, and *each and each time* the feed came out utterly delicious. For example, I purchased 2 pounds of semi-boneless rib steaks at Shaw’s for ten bucks. I sprayed the grill with a great deal of oil spray, pre-heat the grill to 350 F degrees (which took with regards to 20 minutes), and then grilled the steaks (together with a couple burger patties and a heap of green peppers) for with regards to 15 or 16 minutes to well-done. Then my family enjoyed a delicious steak meal. Not counting the cost of the grill itself, but including electricity (the grill is ranked at 1300W), the whole meal came to less than $15 for four full-sized adults! Imagine if we had eaten out at a steakhouse; the last time I went to a steakhouse in Manhattan, I had to shell out over $80 per person, with no appetitizer ordered and only tap water! In fact, I found my own grilled steaks (served with Diet Coke purchased on sale) even better. Even if the Sanyo had gone meet it is manufacturers after this one meal, I’d have more than broken even on the meal, equated to any restaurant that serves steaks.

So I’m actually thrilled regarding the value and the quality of the food.

Now, why not a full-hearted five stars? Well, because this is a low-cost product, there are a couple items that I dislike. One, the thermostat is a joke; it has temperature ranges like “200-250″ and “300-425″ but doesn’t give you precise markers, so you have to guess where to turn the knob to in order to preheat to 325. Not a big deal after a few tries, and I seem to get it right (more or less) each time even though I’d never operated a grill, indoor or outdoor, before. Two, cooking time is not short, period. Preheating to 300 takes when it comes to 15 minutes and to 425 takes over 20 minutes. Cooking itself takes amidst 10 and 20 minutes depending on what you cook and the meat’s thickness. Also, the cooking time seems to vary with room temperature.

Three, more important, this grill is not completely smokeless. The oil spray will give out the most smoke, though it hasn’t set off our smoke alarm yet. (I keep the doors and kitchen windows open when cooking.) In fact, I don’t think any open grill may give you smokeless cooking. As long as you have oil heated to over 300 degrees, you will get smoke. Please keep this in mind if you live in a meticulously maintained house and cannot stand any grill smoke.

But all in all, I love this grill. I’d gladly buy another one any time. While grilled meat may not be healthy, this grill cooks yummy BBQ meat and veggies and saves me tons of money. I commend this grill.

Delonghi Panini Grill

ReviewStuff two slices of of rustic Italian bread with mozzarella, prosciutto, fresh basil, roasted red peppers, and whatsoever else takes your fancy, brush with olive oil, then press amongst the hot plates of this grill for the best panini outside Italy. The nonstick plates are hinged to adjust to any thickness of sandwich, meat, fish, or vegetables, and the bottom plate slants somewhat to grant grease and juices to drain off into the included plastic cup. Brunch guests will ooh and aah over the retro-look mirror-and-glitter finish of the grill with it is wide sweep of a handle. A round polished knob lets you set and see just the right temperature in a little glass window. Measuring 14 by 12-1/2 by 5 inches, the grill includes a cord wrap and locks for upright storage. A comprehensive gift-quality recipe book featuring more than 60 recipes for panini, bruschetta, and spreads comes with the grill, which is covered by a fixed 1-year warranty. –Ann Bieri

4Every home needs a panini grill
By A
But not inevitably this one. I purchased this grill from Amazon in March. I use it alot, and even considered giving it 5 stars, but I have a couple of issues with it.

Compared to the other panini grills I have seen (Villaware, Krups, Wolfgang Puck), the DeLonghi has fewer, more widely spaced ribs. This design makes it easy to clean with a cloth, and no cleaning “comb” is provided. However, a drawback to the wide spacing is it may concede your panini to squish down into the valleys where all the oily stuff goes. You would be astonished how much oily goo a peperoni and mozzerella panini may make, in particular if you brush the outside with olive oil, butter, or mayo before grilling like I do.

A minor annoyance: when it is stored upright on it is back, it teeter totters on the lid’s power cord. IMO, a high end appliance shouldn’t have such a glaring design flaw.

Even though I like the DeLonghi alot, if I were buying another one, I would undertake the Villaware.

5Worth each penny
By A
I have hoped by now that I would see a review on the DeLonghi Retro Panini Grill CGH800 and have been looking since October 2003. I have read other reviews on competitor’s models, but to date no one has written in on this terrifi unit so I feel I should.

I had a bad experience with another Panini Grill, likewise comparable in price but with handle breakage problems. In the reviews for the one I had purchased prior there was another with the same problem. I was hesitant in regards to getting another, but I loved the conception and was more than willing to undertake another brand with high quality standards. In November I purchased this product.

The unit is very heavy and well made, and the handle is strong. I have made a heap of Panini sandwiches and every one is excellent. The grilling of the sandwich takes with regards to 4-5 minutes and develops fantasti grill marks and the contents inside are very hot. I have used homemade bread, French bread, rye bread, pitas (which I feel are too thin) hoagie rolls and even store purchased rolls all proving wonderful.

The combinings of sandwich fillings for Panini’s are endless. I serve a huge Panini with a bowl of soup for an easy weeknight dinner and a alter of pace from the some recipes I make on other nights. We in truth look forward to each and each one and I am not disappointed in this product.

I want to comment on the non-stick – it is utterly wonderful! Cheese or anything that may ooze out just comes up with a piece of toweling, not one thing ever sticks. I have not grilled meats on it as I have three sizes of another well-known grill, but have grilled zucchini along side the sandwich. With the magnificent coating I would not hesitate to cook meats and I like the fact that it has a trough for the grease to drip into the cup that is provided.

I likewise have not used anything but the most eminent temperature on the control as I only use this grill for Panini sandwiches, but I am sure that it would be perfective with something that necessitated a lower temperature. Also an further and added plus, –it surely would be idealisti if my husband was not finished with something I served initial and the thought that I could keep sandwiches warm and not burn the bread by turning the temperature to a low (keep warm) setting for sure is a terrifi addition to this product.

The product is pricey, but if you want quality and long life –this product is worth the investment. I am very happy with my purchase.

2Who Needs Grill Marks?
By Born in Kansas
I applied to be a restaurant owner and chef, serving outstanding toasted sandwiches from assorted mercantile sandwich presses with flat plates and I genuinely missed them after I left the business. After much thoughtfulness and reading reviews, I hesitatingly purchased this unit due to for the most part 5 star reviews. The Delonghi has a nice feature in the temperature control and overall build quality, nevertheless after making one sandwich I realized it is severe shortcomings which I suspect is mutual to all grooved griddles.

I do not grasp the buyer fascination or hype for grill marks on sandwiches just so that you may get that Italian “Panini” look. Grill marks may look cute but they are a functional waste for a toasted sandwich. The problem is that the deep impression made in the bread causes an uneven heating of the bread surface and ingredients underneath. I made a classic Rueben with rye, big eye swiss, corned beef, kraut and thousand island dressing. The ridges pushed deeply sufficient into the bread to cause the cheese to melt through the bread where the untoasted surface was amidst the grooves. So the grooves were toasting but not the among where the cheese soaked through. ALso consider that rye is more dense than typical sandwich bread and it still did not withstand this process. The sandwich ended up a soggy mess within with regards to 3-4 minutes and would not come out of the press very effortlessly due to the deep grooves where the softer bread “gave up” and merely started falling detached from being soaked. So I returned the unit, unsatisfied with the results.

I then promptly substituted Delonghi with my second choice for which I will have to have trusted my basi instincts. I got the Breville unit because it is with regards to the only one on the market that has flat griddle plates top and bottom for a genuinely even toasting over the entire surface of the sandwich. The heat level is perfective and the surface area is more prominent than the Delonghi and it will in truth accommodate 4 sandwiches at one time. The bottom plate features a raised lip around the perimeter to incorporate ingredients that may run out or for cooking meat. You may leave the sandwich in longer than the Delonghi to grant a more crusty surface if desired or more heat to the interior ingredients without burning anything. It is very forgiving on cook time so it would be hard to demolish anything cooked in it. I have also found it terrifi for cooking hamburger patties. And it does it very quickly. A third to half pound pattie will cook in 3-5 minutes, cooking both sides at one time. Not to mention that my Rueben now comes out perfect. I have also cooked Tyson marinated chicken breasts in it, with outstanding results. And will next undertake sirloin steak cuts, which I am sure will yield magnificent results.

The Breville likewise has a stair step slider lid aid on the side handle to concede you to set variable thicknesses for ingredients to stay clear from smashing your panini or toasted sandwiches to cardboard thin slices of bread. Also allows for outstanding pizza reheating to crisp the crust on the bottom plate and setting the lid to the open “radiant heat” melt position, hovering to warm the topside ingredients while the crust does it is thing. All in all, a much superior choice unless you like “tire rut” sandwiches. I am very impressed with this unit which performs as well as the $600 mercantile units we used in my restaurant.
