Magnalite Pot Handles

Pleasing cooks since 1934, Magnalite’s classic cast-aluminum cookware lasts a lifetime of sautéing, roasting, simmering, and stewing. This 13-piece set includes 1-quart and 2-quart saucepans with lids, a 5-quart Dutch oven with lid and meat rack, a 10-inch skillet, a 15-inch roaster with lid and meat rack, and a 3-quart casserole with lid. Each smooth-finished, handsome factor is constructed of professional-grade aluminum that is hand-cast to control the thickness of the piece. The results are heavy, vapor-tight cast lids that lock in moisture, and extra-thick, warp-proof bases that maximize conductivity by permitting heat to travel speedily and evenly up the sides of the pans. Black phenolic handles and lid knobs stay cool on the stovetop and are oven-safe to 350°; the roaster is oven-safe to 500°. Maintain the quality of this long-wearing cookware by washing by hand. The set comes with a 50-year fixed warranty.

1Not Your Mother’s Magnalite!
By Nelson
I own five pieces of this cookware branded Magnalite. Four pieces were my mother’s. She had them for over thirty years. They were made and marked by General Housewares Corp (GHC), an Indiana company, at their plant in Sidney, Ohio. The fifth piece was made there too but not by GHC and that’s the problem. GHC made Magnalite up until 1995 when they sold the name Magnalite and the plant. The fourth piece I own was made in Ohio after 1995 by another company. Though it looks similiar in design, it is measurably half the thickness and weight of my mother’s pieces. There is also another company that is using the name Magnalite that is making them in China. Replacement parts for the new Magnalite will not fit the initial old pieces. So todays Magnalite is not the same as your mother’s. Be advised.

5The last cookware you’ll ever buy
By A. Peck
My mother has had this line since she was married in 1970. They have been through everything from burnt-on peanut brittle syrup that required a few hours of steel wool and elbow grease to remove to 35 years of dishwasher cleanings. I suppose she’ll go to her grave with these pots. I, on the other hand, was married four years ago and recieved a “top-of-the-line” brand of cookware that has a non-stick coating that cost the same as this set. I’ve now had to replace the non-stick pans because the coating has started to peel, and my pans have never heated as evenly as those of my mother’s. I’ve invested in Magnalites, and I suppose they’ll be the last cookware I’ll ever buy.

2Magnalite cookware
By S. B. Nelson
This is not like my mother’s firstborn Magnalite Cookware set. Its lighter in weight for sure! Not overly pleased with the set. Not up to the standards of the old Magnalite, in my opinion.
